Laser Skin Resurfacing in Houston TX

What is a CO2 Laser?
Carbon dioxide laser uses a laser frequency which targets water in your cells. This causes the cells to be destroyed giving off heat in the process. This heat is called fluence. With the CO2 laser, enough heat is generated to contract collagen molecules one quarter of a turn, thus, the CO2 laser not only removes layer by layer of skin, but it also tightens the skin.
CO2 laser treatments can be used alone or in combination with other cosmetic facial operations. The CO2 laser procedure is normally more superficial than most deep chemical peel procedures resulting in less permanent pigment loss. A portion of the face sic as lip, eyelids or forehead can be treated or the entire face can be treated.
The CO2 laser is my treatment of choice for acne scarring.
Why CO2 Laser Treatment?
CO2 laser treatments make the skin smoother and tighter while reducing wrinkles and pigmentation problems. Premature wrinkles and skin discoloration can occur as collagen breaks down throughout the aging process. Daily exposure to UV rays and other environmental elements accelerate this process. CO2 laser treatments help correct the visible signs of this process, to improve the strength and appearance of your skin.
Is CO2 Laser Treatment Safe?
Fractional skin resurfacing is a safe and effective procedure for nearly any skin type and can be applied to most areas of the body. During this treatment, Dr. Robert Peterson applies the pattern of tiny light pulses to your skin.
CO2 Process
Each pulse delivers a column of energy that penetrates to the dermal layer, stimulating a natural renewal process of collagen. Small areas of skin will be left untreated between the treated spots, allowing a quicker recovery. The laser is designed to give Dr. Peterson precise control over the laser’s intensity, so undesirable side effects are minimized.
Treatment can be finished in under one hour. You may experience a warm sharp feeling and an immediate tightening of the skin. Anesthetic ointments and cooling devices can be used to reduce any discomfort during and after the procedure.
Before & After CO2 Laser Treatment
If you have undergone a full facial treatment, you will need to stay indoors for a few days while applying a topical ointment as directed by the doctor. Contact our office in Houston for more information on this procedure. Schedule a consultation and we can determine if you are a good candidate.
